Tucked away at the end of a quiet road not far off of Highway 26, you will find the Iron Mountain Lodge. This incredible private retreat sits on 10 picturesque acres of lawn and woodlands. The impeccable location is a perfect place to stay while you enjoy any of the countless outdoor and adventure activities throughout the entire Mt. Hood region.
From the moment you enter, you will be enveloped in a warm mountain lodge feel while also enjoying all of the creature comforts that make a stay perfect. The main living room is bathed in natural light from its vaulted cathedral ceilings and oversized windows. It is a wonderful place for the entire family or group to get together to enjoy quality time together whether that is socializing, games, or streaming your favorite movie on the 75" TV, or relaxing in front of the cozy fireplace. There's an area for the little kids with a play kitchen, table, books, and toys.
The spacious gourmet kitchen comes outfitted with all stainless steel appliances, generous counter space, a large kitchen island with barstools for entertaining guests, and ample kitchen supplies for any chef to feel comfortable whipping up some delicious gourmet meals to be enjoyed at the formal dining table that seats six guests. There is also a small breakfast nook with table seating for four in the kitchen as well as a half-bath adjacent to the laundry area.
The enormous main level bedroom boasts a king bed, en-suite bathroom with jetted soaking tub, picture window, smart TV, portable crib, as well as access to a private deck. Ascending to the top floor you will find the second bedroom with a king bed and en-suite bathroom. The two additional bedrooms on this level share the third full bathroom. They enjoy a twin over full bunk bed with sofa that converts into a full bed, while the final bedroom has two twin XL beds. For maximum sleeping flexibility there are an additional two plush chairs that can convert into small beds that are perfect for kiddos or extras that may need a place to sleep.
Without a doubt, one of the crowd favorites is the game room on the lower level. In there you will find a pool table, foosball, shuffleboard, as well as an arcade with Pac-man, digital Star Wars, and a pinball machine. There are French doors leading out to a covered patio and picnic table. With plenty of seating and an electric fireplace it creates an incredible setting to laugh, compete, and enjoy every bit of the Iron Mountain Lodge.
When the weather permits you will find new and upgraded outdoor furniture on the large wrap-around raised deck with BBQ, and a fire-table for when the nights cool off. Additionally, there is a basketball hoop, picnic area, and wood burning fire-pit to enjoy as well. Spend every moment you can at these spots while taking in the sights and sounds of this unforgettable place on earth.
Iron Mountain is located about an hour from downtown Portland and PDX airport. This stellar location gives you convenient access to beautiful parks, waterfalls, hot springs, wildlife, and wildflowers. Popular summer activities range from kayaking at Trillium Lake and white water rafting the Deschutes River to horseback riding, mountain biking, and tubing. Winter activities such as skiing and snowboarding are also abundant, as well as snowshoeing and Cosmic tubing at Ski Bowl. Iron Mountain is located across from the only access road leading to the famous Barlow Trail bike/hiking path and is next to the world-renowned 28-acre private campus of Windells Ski Camp.
With snow prevalent during the winter, we keep our driveways as clear as possible. Chains for your car are also required for travel during the winter to navigate the mountain roads; however, you will not need chains to travel to this cabin. Shuttles go up to the mountain ski areas, with the pickup location being just all along Hwy 26. Scheduled pickups and drop-offs must be researched in advance.
