The quaint Washougal is 12 miles away; it's often seen as the "Gateway to the Gorge" as it's right at the entrance to this scenic wonderland and a 31-mile drive to popular Gorge attractions like Multnomah Falls, Cascade Locks, and Bonneville Dam. In Washougal, a walk through the Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge is a joy for both hikers and bird watchers, as the refuge is home to over 200 species of birds.
