EM21 is a traditional Black Butte Ranch house with 5 bedrooms + loft, 3 baths & beds for 12. It features a large sunken hot tub in its own corner room with two walls of windows, a sliding glass door that opens onto the deck and a towering ceiling with two skylights that let in moonlight as well as sunlight - a great place to soak with a glass of wine on a late winter afternoon and watch the snow fall after a day of skiing, followed by warm soup, bread, cheese, and mulled wine in front of a roaring wood fire in the lava rock fireplace.
EM21 is conveniently located on one acre of mature Ponderosa pine trees in the East Meadow section of Black Butte Ranch 1/2 mile from the Ranch Hospitality Center. Great room has a cathedral ceiling, old-growth cedar-paneled walls, tall windows on three sides, and a large lava-rock fireplace with a bench hearth. The living-dining area, kitchen, and hot tub room all open onto a spacious wrap-around deck that looks out over U.S. forest land. Great room has a 40" flat screen cable TV, DVD player and WiFi. The 7'4" dining table was custom made for the house. Four-stool sit-down bar separates the kitchen from the living-dining areas. The well-equipped corridor kitchen has a new GE range & microwave and a sliding glass door that opens on to the deck. Deck has built-in benches, a classic picnic table, plenty of chairs, and a gas BBQ. Entry way has mud room and coat closet. Full size washer and dryer are in a separate closet in the entryway. Parking area has room for 3 cars. Garage has space for one car. Downstairs bunk room has 4 built-in bunks and two round "hobbit" windows as well as a big tall one, its own bathroom, cable TV and DVD player and its own access to the wrap-around deck.
Downstairs twin bedroom & queen bedroom share another bathroom. Upstairs king-size master bedroom and double bedroom have their own balconies and share a bathroom. Loft is furnished with a round table and chairs for games and cards.
Check out the Black Butte Ranch Website for BBR amenities, which include 2 championship golf courses, 5 swimming pools, horseback riding, a full service spa, sport-clothing-gift shops, a post office, a general store, espresso bars, and multiple places to eat. Two of the restaurants and the lodge bar are open all year. There is a $9 charge per day for every guest 7 years and older at check-in at the BBR Welcome Center. This pays for access to 4 outdoor pools, 1 indoor pool, spa, sauna, fitness room, many tennis courts, and miles of bike trails, as well as the recreation barn. It is not related to the rental of home. The charming town of Sisters with lots of shops and restaurants is only 8 miles away. The mountains, rivers and lakes of Central Oregon offer hiking, fly fishing, canoeing and river rafting opportunities. Hoodoo Ski Resort is only a 15-20 minute drive away from the Ranch, depending on the weather. When it snows at the Ranch, the golf courses double as 4 cross-country ski courses.
My family bought this classic Black Butte Ranch home in 1990. It was built in the 1970s and had hardly even been used. It still has its original rugged Northland furniture plus a few useful antiques such as a brass bed and a full length mirror. We built a new kitchen, added the hot tub room, expanded the deck, added the full bedroom with the vaulted ceiling upstairs, the bunk room and bath downstairs, and a new entryway. The acoustics in the all-wood living room with its cathedral ceiling are beautiful. It has been rented for small weddings. If you are a writer, this is a great place to come during the off season and special rates can be arranged for multiple week stays. Three night minimum stay. Please, no smoking or pets. For reservations for 10+ nights between June 29 and September 4 there is a $50/day discount, with a mid stay cleaning fee at $92.50 half way through.
Off season special weekend rate from mid October to mid April on non holiday weekends: $750 for Friday arrival at 1:00pm with a Sunday departure by 7:00pm.
